A recent picture book featured on the Today Show has captured my heart. One of my mother’s favorite artists, Charlie Mackesy, published the most precious collection of sketches and sayings that reflect the kindness, compassion, and relational treasures that we hold on paper. Young or old, the profound (yet simple) messages of The Boy, the mole, the fox, and the Horse are for any audience.

I’ve recently discovered a real-life amputee hero! Virginia Hall’s story isn’t about her overcoming disability, but rather about the amazing expeditions she undertook of espionage, warfare, and spy-hood to assist the allies of WWII in occupied France. How refreshing to learn of a disabled person deemed a hero for DEEDS rather than the same old “overcoming disability”.
